PRIVATE education group Advtech on Thursday announced that it had concluded an R82m agreement to acquire Summit College from the Summit College Trust.

Advtech, which is the owner of premium schools such as Crawford College and Trinityhouse, said the acquisition of Summit College would accelerate its growth strategy.

“The school is ideally located in Kyalami … in Midrand. The site, zoned for education, offers attractive possibilities for the expansion of Summit College as well as the building of other educational facilities,” the group said.

Summit College had 42ha grounds, part of which had been developed into a school with a capacity for 1,000 students and current enrolments of 590.

The group said that the transaction, which was subject to due diligence and regulatory approvals, was expected to completed in January 2016.
