Over 3,000 Nakumatt shoppers have received school fees cheques valued at Sh61 million, redeemed from their loyalty points with the retailer.

In this first academic term, Nakumatt Holdings has redeemed loyal customers Smart Points at Sh2 per point with a 10 per cent bonus, as part of an initiative to support educational development.

Currently at Sh61 million, Nakumatt shoppers are likely to draw cheques valued at over Sh120 million by close of the year. The programme allows Nakumatt shoppers to redeem their accumulated Smart Points for school fees cheques drawn in favour of their school of choice.

To accommodate customers’ wishing to redeem points for students joining Form One, Managing Director Atul Shah, said the firm has extended the redemption period to the end of the month as part of the retailer’s contribution to education.

The redemption programme had earlier been slated to close last week and is one of the benefits extended to loyal Nakumatt Smart Card holders.

A number of Nakumatt shoppers, Shah noted, have been redeeming their points for the benefit of their domestic workers including drivers, house helps and gardeners, relatives and friends. Source: In2EastAfrica
