Okan Partners renews its commitment to education in Africa for the fourth consecutive year
Abidjan, September 22, 2022 – As part of its philanthropic policy, Okan Partners renews its commitment and financial support to the school group Enko Education. The two groups have created a real synergy to financially support more and more students each year across the African continent.
Okan Partners Financially Supports Fifteen Students From Enko Education Group
Okan Partners is pleased to support fifteen students within the Enko Education network schools: Enko Ouaga in Burkina Faso, Enko Bonanjo and Enko La Gaieté in Cameroon, Enko Riviera in Côte d’Ivoire, and Enko Dakar in Senegal.
« Enko Education is truly grateful to have partners like Okan. Their involvement enables talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study in our schools, it’s one more step towards our vision of increasing access to quality education on the continent. » Eric Pignot, founder and CEO of Enko Education.
Created in 2019, the « Okan Excellence » scholarships embody the values shared by the team and underscore Okan Partners’ interest in quality education as a driver of Africa’s development. Okan and Enko Education have had a strong partnership for more than four years to give high-potential youth from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to access an international education through Enko Education schools. Enko schools are African international schools whose mission is to increase access for students in sub-Saharan Africa to the best universities in the world through quality secondary education.
« We continue to support Enko Education because we believe in the quality of education that is provided and the opportunities that are created for students. We know that the scholarship students will benefit from personalized academic follow-up and will be individually accompanied in their university orientation. With the Okan Excellence Scholarships, we hope to offer high-potential African students the opportunity to pursue their education and realize their dreams, » said Benjamin Romain, Partner at Okan.
« We are delighted that Okan Partners has seen its first funded students graduate and go on to universities abroad this year. One girl is going to a university in Russia and one young man is choosing between different Canadian universities, » explained Léa Tyburn, social impact manager at Enko Education.
An increasingly rigorous selection and opportunities for a variety of profiles
The selection of students for the « Okan Excellence » scholarship program is increasingly rigorous. The profiles of the students supported by Okan Partners are varied, but all are motivated by their academic success. For example, a young mathematics champion in Côte d’Ivoire, socially committed students in Burkina Faso, or brilliant students affected by the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon. The purpose of the scholarships is to cover a portion of the tuition and other costs associated with these students’ studies, such as International Baccalaureate exam fees and university application costs.
Students Are Grateful For Okan Partners’ Support And Motivated To Continue Earning These Scholarships.
« Thank you Okan for this incredible opportunity, this scholarship means so much to me and my studies. It allows me to focus and give my best. No words can express my gratitude. Thank you! » Ingrid is a third-grade student at Enko Ouaga in Burkina Faso and an Okan scholarship recipient.
« I thank Okan and Enko Riviera for this opportunity. Thanks to this scholarship, I could go further in my passion: mathematics. I had the chance to win a math competition and participate in the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad and the International Mathematics Olympiad. Through this experience, I was able to meet speakers from MIT and affirm my desire to become an aerospace engineer. » Maximilien, a junior at Enko Riviera and Okan scholarship recipient.
