Enko Education supports the American School of Yaoundé to switch to IB

Enko Education (EE) and the American School of Yaoundé (ASOY) announced a collaboration to implement the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum at ASOY.  ASOY plans to fully replace its current curriculum with the IB programs (PYP, for primary school, MYP for Middle School and DP for high-school).

“We aim to offer a world-class academic programme that best serves our diverse community”, says Sheena Nabholz, the Director of ASOY. Serving some 34 different nationalities, ASOY has a student body of about 170 students, with roughly 30% coming from North America, 30% from Cameroon and other French-speaking African countries, 30% from Europe and 10% from the rest of the world (mostly Asia).“Our vision is to offer our students the highest quality learning experience, with the best teachers and the best educational programme. Research also tells us that American Universities today give preference to the IB diploma over other diplomas”, she adds .

IB programs are praised not only for their academic rigor, but also for placing the learner at the center of the learning experience. Independent research1 shows students with IB diploma are more likely to enroll in top universities, get top awards and honours, go on to graduate studies and earn more during their professional life, than students with other degree.

There are currently 38 American schools located in 34 sub-Saharan African countries. Fourteen of these American schools offer the IB Diploma programme, such as the ones in Senegal, Angola, South Africa to name a few.
