South Africa, September 12, 2023 – As part of its philanthropic policy, Okan Partners is renewing its commitment and financial support to Enko Education. The two groups have established a scholarship programme to provide financial assistance to students across the African continent.

Okan Partners offers financial support to students attending Enko schools:

This year, Okan Partners is pleased to support sixteen students within the Enko Education network of schools: Enko Ouaga in Burkina Faso, Enko Bonanjo and Enko La Gaieté in Cameroon, Enko Riviera in Ivory Coast, and Enko Dakar in Senegal.

“For this fifth year, we are delighted to welcome new bright profiles to join this scholarship program. We have future engineers, architects, doctors, but above all, students with great ambitions and big dreams,” said Léa Tyburn, Social Impact Associate at Enko Education.

Established in 2019, the “Okan Excellence” scholarships underline Okan Partners’ commitment to quality education, a driving force for the development of the African continent. Okan Partners and Enko Education have forged a strong partnership for over five years to provide young, high-potential individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds with the opportunity to access international education through Enko schools. Enko schools are African international schools with a mission to increase access to top universities for sub-Saharan students through quality secondary education.

“We continue to support Enko Education because we are convinced of the quality of education provided and the opportunities created for students. We know that scholarship students will benefit from personalised academic guidance and individual support in their university orientation. With the ‘Okan Excellence’ scholarships, we hope to offer African students with high potential the opportunity to pursue their studies and fulfil their dreams,” explained Benjamin Romain, Partner at Okan Partners.

An increasingly rigorous selection process and opportunities for a wide range of profiles:

The selection of students for the “Okan Excellence” scholarship programme is becoming increasingly rigorous. Among the profiles that Okan Partners supports, there are students with different profiles but all motivated by their academic success. For example, a young mathematics champion in Côte d’Ivoire, socially committed students in Burkina Faso or brilliant students affected by the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon. The aim of the scholarships is to cover part of the tuition fees and other costs associated with these students’ studies, such as International Baccalaureate examination fees and university application costs.

The students are grateful for the support of Okan Partners and proud of this opportunity:

“Thank you for this incredible opportunity. This scholarship means a lot to my family and to me. It allows me to go as far as I want to go and discover an international environment. I’m going to do everything I can to be the best and go to the best university possible. Thank you!” Kimberly, a pupil in Grade 11 at Enko La Gaieté in Cameroon and Okan Partners scholarship holder.

“I sincerely thank Okan Partners and Enko Bonanjo for the best opportunity of my life. Thanks to this scholarship I was able to develop my potential and go to the university of my dreams. I am now at the University of Toronto in Canada where I am learning to become an expert in human resources.” Wendy, alumni of Enko Bonanjo, Cameroon and former Okan scholarship holder.
